Upayn
2013
On 7th
April, 2013, Sunday, Deepastambha introduced to all yet another dimension
of Upayn…Donation in a form of Gift. This was the first Upayn of 2013 which had
altogether different aspects to it.
Upayn, was held on World Health Day, and was indeed a special activity of Deepastambha
which was spectacular. Right from the planning, awareness & implementation,
all the phases were covered thoroughly. The credit goes to all the members’ of
course & special appreciation for the Project Managers: Tejas Bhagwat,
Anand Bangale & Laxman Suryawanshi who did a Herculean Job and made this
project a huge success.
This time, Upayn was away from its Home ground-
“Kothrud”. It was held in Sahakarnagar.
Despite of the new venue, the members were geared up for the challenge.
Awareness campaigns were scheduled precisely as we were covering a new area for
Upayn this time. Invitations were sent to everyone, through, mailers, SMSs, social
networking sites, awareness campaigns in societies and public places @
Sahakarnagar. The awareness campaigns were arranged in full swing. Members
volunteered for marketing of the event in morning & evening slots.
The donations included Blood donation, Plastic bags & Bottles
donation & Paper donation, the response was awe-inspiring. The activity
was well thought-out & structured, which resulted in less chaos.
Demarcation as “RED ZONE” for Blood Donation and “GREEN ZONE” for Plastic and
Paper Donation was very innovative. The work was distributed to each member
& it was seen that no donor would be left unattended. The pamphlets were
distributed well in advance. The banners were prepared & put up in the hall
which were indeed eye-catching.
On 7th April,
Sunday evening 4 p.m., the members were present before the time at Satav
Gymnasium Hall, which was made accessible to us for the event. Everything was
arranged steadily. Red carpet with a red spotlight was allocated for Blood
donors & Green carpet with a green spotlight was allocated for Plastic
bags, Bottles & Paper donors.
There were DCT jute bags at the Exit counter
for sale, which attracted many people. All the donors were handed a plantlet
with a pot as a token of appreciation & this pot was not a regular one, it
was made of recycled plastic.
The decoration team had brilliant
ideas & designs under their sleeves. There were huge charts, displaying the
statistics of the previous Upayn projects & pictorial data for all our
donations.
The most
noticeable thing was, we had our own professional doctor/diet consultant who
helped out the donors who wished to donate blood but couldn’t do so due to
inadequate weight or level of haemoglobin. This boosted the morale of the
rejected donors & we hope to see these donors again in next Upayn
On this day, we collected:
- · 92 Blood donors (111 attempted),
- · 43 Paper donors (650+ Kg) &
- · 31 Plastic donors (60+ Kg) & most important, over 250 Visitors.
The organizations that
helped us complete this Upayn were:
·
Jankalyan
Blood bank (Blood Donation),
·
Arihant
Newspaper Agency (Paper donation) &
· Clean
Garbage Management Pvt. Ltd (Plastic bags & bottles donation & Pots)
This was all possible
because of the unrelenting spirit of all DCTians. And as they say,
“Positive
attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts and events, which sparks
extraordinary results”
Altogether…it was indeed
an astounding event. A job-well-done by the PMs & members. Three Cheers to
Deepastambha Charitable Trust.
And as they say… FULLL HAWAAA!!!

full hawa..! :D
